• A little translated politics goes a long way

  壽星公吊頸: 嫌命長
  The God of Longevity hangs himself.
  
  The God of Longevity can live forever if he wishes. If he hangs himself, then he's really asking for it. Hey no one responded for this one! :(  It doesn't matter, I'll try to keep on going until I exhaust my knowledge of "market-well" (市井) Cantonese.
  
  This time I'm gonna put down some translated political terms, nonetheless from our last Brit governor, Chris Patten, in his book "East and West". Any guesses of what these are? Extra credit for knowing the political context as well.
  
  1) setting up a "second stove"
  2) a "criminal who would be condemned for a thousand generations"
