Translation: "Hold your wife and scream burglar"
This describes one's embarrassment of getting the wrong answer when looking for something. Imagine the scenario of a midnight burglar, a husband accidentally grabbed his own wife, thought she was the burglar and started yelling thief.
The usage is obviously limited. Nonetheless, when someone you know is looking for an answer to a question, or simply looking for something, and begins frantically making up answers, you can say s\he 攬住老婆嗌賊.
Sorry for the long wait! I've been sick for the past few days. Must have been a strand of flu common in Hong Kong but not the States! It hit me pretty hard and it isn't over yet, but I feel much better now. Surprisingly I could make it through the Carmina Burana rehearsal last night!
